Abrus precatorius, also known as the rosary pea, jequirity bean, or crab’s eye, is a poisonous, twining, woody vine native to tropical and subtropical regions. It has green, cylindrical stems that turn dark gray as they mature. The plant has pinnate leaves and produces small axillary or terminal pseudoracemes with pink flowers. The seeds are bright red and ellipsoid, with a black spot at the base.
